On April 23, AI startup Vast Data announced the completion of a $1 billion funding round, raising its valuation to $30 billion, with NVIDIA among the investors. Founded in 2016, Vast focuses on providing large-scale data management software infrastructure for AI applications and has developed the DASE architecture. The company stated that its technology supports computational projects involving millions of GPUs, with clients including CoreWeave, Mistral, the U.S. Air Force, and Cursor. This latest funding round reflects a more than threefold increase in Vast’s valuation from $9.1 billion during its 2023 funding, highlighting the surging demand for next-generation data infrastructure as the development and deployment of general AI systems accelerate.
