SpaceX IPO Filing Reveals Executive Compensation, Musk Takes Symbolic Salary

On April 21, according to Reuters, SpaceX’s IPO prospectus revealed that President Gwynne Shotwell’s total compensation last year reached $85.8 million, placing her among the highest-paid executives in the U.S. Shotwell also serves as Chief Operating Officer, with a base salary of $1 million, while most of her compensation comes from stock options and bonuses. The summary of the prospectus shows that Chief Financial Officer Bret Johnson’s total compensation was $9.8 million; meanwhile, CEO Elon Musk, a major shareholder in SpaceX, paid himself a symbolic salary of only $54,080.
