Recently, someone complained again that on-chain data tools and tagging systems are lagging and easily influenced by hype... I can only say don’t treat that stuff as navigation, more like a rearview mirror. If you really want to balance gas and experience, there are actually two tricks for ordinary people: don’t push hard during mainnet peak times, if you really need the mainnet, accept the consequences; if it can be solved on L2, don’t go pay tuition there, saving isn’t just money, it’s your mindset.
My current practice is: every time I want to cross back from L2 to the mainnet to chase a “seems really promising” opportunity, I first pause for 30 seconds and ask myself if I’m being driven by FOMO. Honestly, many swap failures and slippage explosions aren’t technical issues, it’s because you’re unwilling to wait for a normal block, unwilling to split transactions, or unwilling to set a decent limit order. The end of saving gas is saving impulse; anyway, I’m still practicing.
