Lebanese President: The goal of Lebanon-Israel negotiations is to end the Israeli military presence in southern Lebanon

At 20 local time, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said that the upcoming Lebanon-Israel negotiations will be led by a delegation headed by former Lebanese ambassador to the United States, Simon Karam, and he stressed that no other party is allowed to participate in or replace Lebanon’s position in the negotiations. Aoun said the goal of the negotiations is to stop hostilities, end Israel’s troop presence in the southern Lebanese region, and deploy the Lebanese army to the internationally recognized southern border.
