The Japan Meteorological Agency lowers the tsunami warning level

On the evening of the 20th local time, the Japan Meteorological Agency downgraded the “Tsunami Warning” for coastal areas of Iwate Prefecture and other regions to a “Tsunami Advisory” level. The Japan Meteorological Agency earlier on the 20th reported that around 16:53 local time, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake occurred off the northeastern coast of the country, with the strongest shaking reaching a seismic intensity of 5+ and a noticeable tremor felt in Tokyo. Subsequently, the Japan Meteorological Agency revised the earthquake magnitude to 7.5, then further adjusted it to 7.7.
