I keep shouting "long-term value" with my mouth, but as soon as I see the mainnet gas spike, I immediately get scared... Yesterday, I wanted to transfer some tokens from the mainnet to L2, opened my wallet to check the estimated fee, and almost closed the webpage in a panic.
Later, I settled on a compromise: small daily transactions all on L2, and only keep long-term holdings on the mainnet. Anyway, it's most costly and risky to switch back and forth in emotional moments.
Now, L2s are competing daily on TPS, fees, and ecosystem subsidies, arguing like a market stall. Honestly, as an ordinary person, I just want "no lag, no high costs, and not being forced to chase the market."
I also saw a transfer from 0x8a…c1 on-chain, split into two transactions to save a few bucks. It felt like that person was as frugal and anxious as I am...
Sigh, do I choose experience or security? I usually pick the cheaper option first, then regret it later.
