Recently, I came across an interesting discussion in the developer community. Developer blogger Sysls, with 2.6 million followers, is issuing an important warning about how to use AI tools.

The core message is that overloading AI tools like Claude and Codex with too much context or plugins can actually decrease their performance. It seems to be a common trap for many developers. The idea that "adding more tools can unlock the potential of AI agents" can actually be counterproductive.

Sysls argues that simplicity and accuracy are the keys. He advocates for a minimalist approach to avoid context overload. In other words, the information given to the agent should be limited to what is truly necessary for the task.

What’s interesting is that he mentions the tendency of AI to try to please its interlocutor. He points out that neutral prompts are important to mitigate this. Doing so can reduce the risk of AI generating false or misleading results.

Avoid expanding context, focus on clear task definitions, and minimize dependencies. This simple approach is actually how to maximize the effectiveness of AI tools. I think it’s also important to reevaluate the optimal solutions each time a new AI model is introduced.
