Dogecoin Foundation Donates 1 Million DOGE to Dogs in America

MoonPay, the Dogecoin Foundation, and its affiliated company House of Doge jointly donated 1 million Dogecoin

to the AKC Humane Fund on April 21, launching a campaign that channels this meme asset into dog welfare programs in the United States.

This effort combines cryptocurrency payment systems with traditional American pet charity organizations. Now, supporters can make donations in DOGE directly through the AKC Humane Fund website, and payments are processed by MoonPay Commerce.

Where 1 Million DOGE Is Sent

The AKC Humane Fund, an affiliate of the American Kennel Club named 501(c)(3), will allocate these donations into three grant categories. The funds will be used for assistance for shelters for pet owners fleeing domestic violence, operations to rescue stray dogs, and veterinary support for families facing financial difficulties.

At Dogecoin’s current price nearing US$0.10, this transfer of 1 million DOGE is valued at nearly US$100,000 in market value. This value may change along with the token’s price, which during most of this April has been traded in a narrow range below US$0.11.

House of Doge, the company behind the Dogecoin branding, has previously pushed for real-world use. Dog-themed charitable activities have always been at the core of their brand identity. This group joined with Brag House Holdings (NASDAQ: TBH) earlier this year.

A Crypto Donation Route Put to the Test

MoonPay Commerce provides the payment infrastructure. This setup allows the AKC to accept DOGE without having to create a dedicated wallet tool, and donors can pay using crypto assets or fiat on the same page.

“We are proud to partner with the AKC and Dogecoin Foundation to turn $DOGE into real-world impact, supported by MoonPay Commerce,” — said Keith A. Grossman, President of MoonPay, in a statement.

The Dogecoin community has previously directed funds to various causes. DOGE holders have previously funded Jamaica’s bobsled team’s participation at the 2014 Olympics, supported a clean water well project in Kenya, and raised more than US$26,000 for Riley Children’s Hospital through Indy 500 sponsorships. This campaign together with the AKC expands that donation pattern into a more institutional partnership.

Ongoing participation from retail DOGE holders in this fundraising effort will depend heavily on how the charities report the results of the grants in the coming months.
