An interesting situation is developing around Aave. Chaos Labs just announced the termination of their partnership with the protocol, and it's not for nothing — it involves disagreements over risk management.
Basically, the company was responsible for risk management within the ecosystem but faced serious challenges. The V4 architecture turned out to be much more complex than expected, and the operational load increased significantly. Additionally, the budget allocated for risk management no longer matched the actual needs.
What’s also interesting is that this is not the first departure. BGD Labs and ACI also decided to end their cooperation with Aave earlier. It appears that serious questions are accumulating around risk management in the protocol.
This raises an important question about how well-structured the risk management system is in large DeFi protocols. When several key teams leave one after another, it signals that the approach to risk management needs to be reconsidered.
For Aave, this means they need to urgently review their risk management and budgeting strategies. Risk management is not something to skimp on, especially when it comes to a protocol of this scale. Close attention should be paid, because it could impact the platform’s stability.
