Did you see that? The uninstallation of ChatGPT skyrocketed 295% in the EUA at the end of February, like that, out of nowhere. All because OpenAI partnered with the Departamento de Defesa americano. Users didn’t like it at all and started uninstalling en masse, quite different from the 9% average it had been seeing.

The most interesting part is that while ChatGPT was getting hammered, Anthropic’s Claude shot up like a rocket. Downloads grew 51% on the same day. And do you know why? Because Anthropic went ahead and said no—refused to collaborate with the DoD for ethical reasons. Basically, people switched sides. Claude became number 1 on the App Store.

It was basically a vote of distrust. People preferred an AI model that takes an ethical stance instead of staying neutral. Interesting to see how mass uninstallation can change the game overnight, right?
