After reading Splunk's new report, one thing caught my attention: CISOs are now placing artificial intelligence not just as a tool, but at the center of digital defense. A study conducted with 650 CISOs produced some very interesting findings.
The report’s most striking finding is this: 92% of respondents acknowledge AI’s role in analyzing security incidents. That means CISOs believe this technology truly makes a difference in threat detection. However, 89% reported that data correlation has improved significantly thanks to AI.
What does this tell us? Most CISOs think that threat actors are becoming increasingly more complex (%95), and that this is the biggest risk factor. Therefore, 92% prioritize their threat detection and response capabilities. In fact, 68% are actively investing in AI cybersecurity capabilities.
However, every technology has a dark side. 86% of CISOs are concerned that AI could make social engineering attacks more sophisticated. This concern seems entirely justified.
The report also shows how the CISO role has evolved. Almost all CISOs are now required to oversee AI governance and the related risks. In the digital age, this responsibility has become much more than just security management.
