Just saw a warning about this wild recovery scam going around in Canada - scammers are literally impersonating RCMP officers to target people who already got burned by crypto fraud. They hit you twice basically. So the story is someone loses like CAD 5,000 in a fake work-from-home crypto scheme, then a few weeks later they get a call from someone claiming to be a lawyer saying they found CAD 60,000 in crypto earnings under their name. Obviously they want to help recover it... for a fee. Case reference 64415 is one of the documented incidents. The wild part? RCMP has to keep reminding people they literally never do this. They don't call you about found crypto accounts, they don't partner with private recovery companies taking cuts, and they definitely don't ask for money upfront to investigate fraud. Pretty obvious red flags if you think about it but I guess when you're already stressed about losing money the second time around it hits different. Anyone else getting these calls or is it mostly a regional thing?
