Just caught Tim Cook's comments on Mac Mini and it's actually pretty interesting timing. He was in China talking about how the latest sales spike for Mac Mini is really tied to AI capabilities. Basically, Apple's been thinking about this for a while - they put a neural engine in Macs a decade ago, but now with their own silicon and all the generative AI stuff advancing, the timing finally makes sense.

What caught my attention is Cook emphasizing that Mac Mini has become the go-to device for AI work. Not just for running AI applications, but he specifically mentioned that people can already train large language models on MacBook Pro. That's a pretty significant capability that a lot of people might not realize.

The way Tim Cook framed it was about how Apple will keep pushing Mac performance specifically for AI workflows. It's less about chasing hype and more about making sure the hardware actually supports what developers and creators need. The neural engine integration combined with Apple silicon optimization seems to be hitting a sweet spot where AI tasks that used to require heavy external hardware can now run locally.

Interesting to see hardware companies doubling down on local AI capabilities. Mac Mini positioning itself as an AI-friendly option is definitely a play worth watching, especially as more people experiment with running AI models themselves.
