I just saw that Ripple and Chris Larsen each contributed 5 million to stop California's billionaire tax. The tax, a 5% levy on wealth, started earlier this year, and they are basically funding a political committee to oppose it. The state's idea was to raise funds for public health, but of course, the billionaires are not very happy. I saw some crypto sector folks say it's "a theft on unrealized gains," which makes sense. What's interesting is that this has already driven several well-known billionaires out of California, like the founders of Google and other major venture investors. Chris Larsen and Ripple clearly don't want to sit idly by. What do you think— is this tax legitimate or is it too aggressive?
