📜 How Would Tiradentes React to Today’s Brasil?

If Tiradentes lived in current Brasil, he would hardly stay silent.

In the 18th century, HE rose up against a system that suffocated the people with abusive taxes. The “derrama” was the ultimate symbol of this oppression: a forced collection when the government failed to meet its gold target. It was the weight of the State crushing those who produced.

Today, the scenario has changed in… but not necessarily in essence.
Under Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s government, the push for revenue is growing. Brazilians feel it in their day-to-day lives, paying taxes on practically everything:

💰 ICMS — on almost everything you buy
🏭 IPI — on manufactured products
⛽ PIS/COFINS — built into fuels and services
💼 Income Tax — on what you earn
🏠 IPTU — on what you’ve achieved
🚗 IPVA — on what you’ve already bought

It’s taxes on income, consumption, and assets.
The tax burden has already surpassed 30% of GDP— a constant weight on those who work and produce. And meanwhile, many wonder: is there really control over public spending? Or is the State continuing to grow, demanding more and more?

If Tiradentes looked at today, he might not see physical chains… but he would notice another form of pressure: economic.

The difference is that, back then, there was no choice. Today, there is voting, a voice, and debate—even if many feel they aren’t heard as they should be.

🔥 The question echoing through the centuries is direct:
If before the revolt was born because of abusive taxes…
to what extent is today’s Brazilian willing to endure?

📌 Because history doesn’t repeat itself exactly…
But it always leaves signs for those who want to see.
