Beijing High People's Court: Using AI to generate infringing images and creating puzzles for sale constitutes copyright infringement.

Beijing Higher People’s Court released the 2025 Beijing Court Intellectual Property Judicial Protection Status and Typical Cases. Among them, a criminal case involving the use of open-source AI models such as Stable Diffusion to generate infringing images and produce puzzle products for sale has become a typical case of infringing copyright through artificial intelligence-generated models. In 2025, Beijing courts newly received a total of 69,728 intellectual property cases, with 64,960 cases concluded, including 2,970 patent cases, 40,955 trademark cases, and 16,419 copyright cases.
