GPT-5.5 has launched Codex, but OpenAI has not officially announced it yet
According to Beating Monitoring, GPT-5.5 has appeared in the model selector dropdown list of OpenAI Codex, located at the very top of the list.
As of now, OpenAI has not released any official announcements or documentation regarding GPT-5.5.
Previously, multiple media outlets reported that the next-generation cutting-edge model codenamed “Spud” internally by OpenAI completed pre-training by the end of March. The public generally speculates that its official name will be GPT-5.5 or GPT-6, with a release expected in the second quarter.
