Just realized SASSA actually lets you update your banking details online now, at least for the SRD grant. Been hearing so many people complain about having to go to the office in person, but apparently it's not that complicated if you know where to look.

So basically, if you're on the SRD R370, you can change your banking details through their online portal without leaving home. You need your ID number, they'll text you a secure link, you enter your new bank account info, and that's it. Takes a few days to verify, but way easier than the old way. Just make sure the account is in your name—they won't touch joint or third-party accounts.

If you're on a permanent grant though (old age, disability, child grant), that's a different story. You've gotta go to your nearest SASSA office in person, fill out forms, bring your ID and proof of your new bank account. Annoying, but I guess it's for security reasons. The whole thing can take up to 21 working days to process, so don't expect it to happen overnight.

Also heads up—there are fake websites out there pretending to be SASSA, especially for changing phone numbers. Always use the official link they give you. And if you're having trouble with the online portal, just call their helpline at 0800 60 10 or visit the office. Honestly, going in person might be faster if you're stuck.

Anyone else dealt with this recently? How long did it actually take for your new details to go through?
