The Anthropic model identified 271 security vulnerabilities in the Firefox browser.
Odaily Planet Daily News: Anthropic’s latest AI model, Claude Mythos, identified 271 security vulnerabilities during testing in Mozilla’s Firefox browser. The related issues have recently been fixed, highlighting AI’s potential in the cybersecurity field.
Mozilla stated that the model can efficiently analyze large-scale codebases and locate potential vulnerabilities, a process that previously relied heavily on scarce senior security researchers. In earlier tests, another Claude model had discovered 22 critical vulnerabilities.
Nevertheless, Mozilla believes that the vulnerabilities found by AI are still within the capabilities of top human researchers, but its scalable ability could change the attack-defense landscape, giving defenders a systematic advantage for the first time. However, industry experts also warn that if such technology is misused, it could increase the risk of automated attacks. (Decrypt)
