U.S. Navy Admiral Samuel Paparo stated at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing that Bitcoin is not only a currency but also a "valuable computer science tool" that supports U.S. national security interests and is a form of American "power projection." He pointed out that Bitcoin's "proof of work (PoW)" technology can significantly increase the cost for attackers to disrupt the network and has extremely important cybersecurity applications beyond its economic properties. Previously, U.S. Space Force member Jason Lowery also expressed similar views, believing that Bitcoin and PoW blockchains can be used to protect various data and command signals.
