On April 22, local time, Iran announced that it has not requested an extension of the ceasefire. In response to U.S. President Trump’s earlier statement regarding the extension of the ceasefire, an advisor to the Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly stated on social media, ‘The ceasefire extension proposed by Trump is meaningless. A loser has no right to set conditions. The ongoing blockade and bombardment are no different; they must be met with military response. Moreover, Trump’s proposal for an extension is clearly aimed at buying time to launch an attack. Now is the time for Iran to take the initiative.’ (CCTV)
