just realized how many people in kuwait don't bother checking their civil id status until it's too late. i was one of them tbh. got hit with fines and couldn't renew my visa on time because my card had expired without me noticing. not fun.

so here's the thing — your civil id check should be something you do like every few months, especially if you're an expat. it literally takes 2 minutes through the paci app or website. you just enter your id number and boom, you know if it's ready for pickup, still processing, or already expired. way easier than showing up at an office and waiting for hours.

what surprised me is how many different statuses you can get. sometimes it says 'under process' and you're just sitting there for weeks. sometimes it's 'ready for collection' and you don't know because you never checked. then there's the expired ones which is basically a nightmare — suddenly you can't access anything, banks won't touch you, and your employer starts asking questions.

the renewal process is actually not that bad if you stay on top of it. most of it can be done online now through the paci portal. but honestly, the best move is to set a reminder before your expiry date. i learned that the hard way. and if you're working here, your sponsor or pro usually handles most of it anyway, so just stay in touch with them.

there's also an sms service if you can't be bothered with apps, but the app is pretty solid. either way, doing a civil id check regularly saves you from so much headache later. trust me on this one.
