Iranian representative: The lifting of the maritime blockade against Iran by the United States could serve as a basis for negotiations

RIA Novosti reported on the 21st, citing remarks by Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Iraj Masjedi, that the United States lifting its maritime blockade against Iran could become the basis for the two countries to hold a second round of talks. Masjedi said there are indications that the United States is prepared to lift the maritime blockade against Iran, which could serve as a foundation for the two countries’ second round of direct negotiations in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The report said Iran has stated that the current U.S. blockade on maritime traffic entering and leaving Iranian ports seriously violates the previously agreed ceasefire agreement.
