U.S.-Iran Standoff Escalates Iran Refuses to Attend Negotiations U.S. Extends Ceasefire Period but Maintains Maritime Blockade
Tensions rapidly escalated on the eve of the expiration of the Iran–U.S. ceasefire agreement. Iran refused to attend the Islamabad talks scheduled for the 22nd, accusing the United States of obstructing the achievement of a substantive agreement.
