Vance Cancels Trip to Pakistan, Sources Say Iran Will Not Attend US-Iran Talks on 22nd
On April 22, the Associated Press reported that U.S. Vice President Vance has canceled his trip to Pakistan. Earlier reports indicated that Vance was scheduled to travel to Islamabad on Wednesday morning. Additionally, according to CCTV News, the Iranian negotiating team has informed the U.S. side through a Pakistani intermediary that, for various reasons, they will not be going to Islamabad on the 22nd and currently have no plans to participate in the negotiations. Sources also stated that in recent communications, the U.S. side has insisted on excessive demands that infringe upon the absolute rights of the Iranian people, and there has been no substantial progress in the exchanges between the two sides. Therefore, Iran ultimately announced today that under these circumstances, participating in the negotiations would be a waste of time, as the U.S. is obstructing any substantive agreement.
