Just read that Rassie van der Dussen officially called it on international cricket. Honestly, didn't see this coming but also kind of makes sense. The guy's been grinding for years and probably felt like the right time to step away on his own terms.

What's wild is how consistent he was without being flashy about it. 57 T20s, 71 ODIs, 18 Tests - that's a proper career. Started his ODI journey back in 2019 with 93 runs on debut, which is pretty solid for a first game. Then he just kept showing up when it mattered. His ODI average stayed above 50, which honestly puts him in rare company for South Africa.

The peak moments were definitely those World Cup performances. That 133 against New Zealand in 2023 was class - showed he could go big against quality attacks when the pressure was on. Not the most explosive player you'd see, but the kind of batter who'd anchor an innings and keep things together.

Interesting part is he's not completely disappearing. Still planning to play domestic stuff for the Lions and might move into coaching. So Rassie van der Dussen's next chapter could be helping the younger guys figure it out. Guess that's how careers evolve these days - you don't just vanish, you transition. Fair play to him for leaving on his own terms though. That takes guts.
