Guterres warns that war could engulf the entire Middle East, calls for an immediate end to the conflict

On April 2nd local time, UN Secretary-General Guterres held a press conference at the United Nations headquarters in New York regarding the ongoing conflicts between the United States, Israel, and Iran, calling for the US and Israel to cease attacking Iran and for Iran to stop attacking neighboring countries. Guterres stated that the Middle East crisis has entered its second month, and every day this war continues, human suffering deepens. The scale of destruction is expanding, indiscriminate attacks are increasing, assaults on civilians and civilian infrastructure are rising, and the danger to the entire world is also growing. Guterres said that this war could engulf the entire Middle East and have far-reaching impacts globally. He emphasized that disputes must be resolved peacefully, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all member states, and that civilians and civilian infrastructure, including nuclear facilities, must be protected. He also stressed the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation. He is maintaining close contact with all parties and has dispatched Special Envoy Jean Arnaud to the Middle East to seek a peaceful solution. (CCTV News)
