On the prediction market Polymarket, two smart money addresses have invested $245.3k USD in the question "Will the United States invade Iran before 2027?" with the current "No" probability at 30.5%.
Among these two smart money addresses, Eatpraylove has a 57% win rate in the politics sector with a total profit of $354k USD; 0xc6587b11 has a 71% win rate in the geopolitical sector with a total profit of $629k USD.
The market settlement for "No" requires that the U.S. does not initiate any military attacks aimed at establishing actual control over parts of Iran's territory before 2027 (pure airstrikes, naval blockades, targeting specific military objectives, or limited coastal pushes are not counted).
Reports on March 24 and March 30 from Reuters mentioned considering deploying ground troops to the Iranian coast or seizing Kharg Island, which accounts for about 90% of Iran's oil exports; the 82nd Airborne Division parachutists have arrived in the Middle East as potential operational forces.
However, recent trends still favor limited pressure rather than invasion preparations: Vice President Vance explicitly stated on April 7, after the strike on Kharg Island, that this does not indicate a change in U.S. strategy, and they still hope to end the conflict through negotiations; Reuters on April 20 showed that U.S.-Iran talks remain focused on nuclear issues, the Strait of Hormuz, and ceasefire arrangements.
CSIS analysis on April 20 pointed out that the current U.S. military force levels and capability structures are closer to the punitive strikes of "Desert Fox" in 1998 than to the large-scale ground invasion of 2003, insufficient to support large-scale ground warfare or regime change; on the other hand, domestic polls in the U.S. show very low support, and diplomacy remains the primary path.
Note: Based on their past trading patterns, this trader does not bet on whether the event will actually occur; they may close positions for profit or loss at certain points after opening.
