So Ross Ulbricht just got out of prison after Trump's pardon. The Silk Road founder spent basically a decade locked up for running that dark web marketplace, and now people are going wild speculating if he somehow stashed away Bitcoin before the feds seized everything.
Here's the wild part - the government grabbed 173,991 BTC from Silk Road operations. At current prices that's easily worth over $18 billion. But the question everyone's asking is whether Ulbricht has any secret wallets hidden somewhere that never got caught. Some people in the Bitcoin community think it's actually pretty likely he does.
The thing is, Ulbricht was an early Bitcoin adopter back when most people had no idea what it was. He basically helped introduce a ton of people to crypto, which is why he's got this weird cult status in libertarian circles despite, you know, running an illegal drug marketplace. The pardon has been super controversial - people are split between 'he's a Bitcoin pioneer' and 'he literally profited off overdose deaths.'
Nobody really knows where Ulbricht is at now or if he's sitting on any Bitcoin. The government did recently liquidate like 67,000 more BTC that came from some Silk Road hacker, so there's still stuff being sorted out years later. Wild situation.
