Meta is laying off nearly 200 more employees in Silicon Valley. I just saw that they filed official documents this week with the California Department of Employment.
The interesting part is that this isn't an isolated cut. Between Burlingame and Sunnyvale, they will eliminate around 124 and 74 positions respectively, and all will take effect at the end of May. But what catches the eye is that in recent weeks, they had already cut about 700 employees in total. Recruitment, sales, operations... even Reality Labs was left hanging by a thread.
Silicon Valley remains the epicenter of these changes. Meta describes this as a "permanent reduction," so it doesn't seem to be temporary. The company continues to undergo a major restructuring. Do you think there will be more cuts, or have they already reached the point they were aiming for?
