Golden Color News reports that, citing insiders, The Financial Times says that Project Prometheus, an AI lab operated with Jeff Bezos’ involvement, is nearing completion of a new funding round. The scale is about $10 billion, and the post-money valuation is about $38 billion. JPMorgan and BlackRock participated in this round. The transaction has not yet been finalized.
Project Prometheus is not building a general-purpose chatbot. It focuses on AI that can understand the physical world. The goal is to apply the model to engineering, design, and manufacturing processes. Axios reported last month, citing insiders, that the company would rather first tackle areas such as prototype design, materials, and early engineering, instead of directly replacing factory workers with robots.
