Uber is Bypassing California Employee Carve-Out Law, Suit Says

A lawsuit filed in California Superior Court alleges that Uber Technologies Inc. is sidestepping a state gig-worker law (Prop. 22) by not providing drivers with an appeal process for account deactivations. Rideshare Drivers United, representing 20,000 drivers, claims this violation means Uber should be compelled to classify its drivers as employees rather than independent contractors. The complaint states that Uber has failed to offer any bona fide appeal mechanism.
