I just read some pretty serious news about what's happening with SBF in prison. A federal judge completely shut the door on Barbara Fried, Bankman-Fried's mother, telling her she cannot submit documents or communications on behalf of her son. Apparently, Barbara Fried had tried to contact the court requesting an extension because her son couldn't access a word processor or files where he's detained. Judge Kaplan was very clear: although he respects that Barbara Fried is a law professor and the accused's mother, she simply has no legal authority to act in this case. What caught my attention is that the judge extended the deadline on his own until March 23, but made it very clear that he will not accept anything from Barbara Fried. SBF is still serving the 25-year sentence handed down in 2023 after the FTX collapse, and recently filed his own motion claiming new evidence. Barbara Fried's attempt to intervene is complicated, honestly. Do you think it makes sense that she can't even write a letter?
