Hengqin Port's passenger vehicle flow reaches a new high in the first quarter, accelerating the formation of the "Same City Life" between Qin and Ao
In the first quarter of this year, the throughput at Hengqin Port continued to rise, with both inbound and outbound passenger and vehicle flows reaching new highs for the same period in history. According to the Hengqin Border Inspection Station, in the first quarter of 2026, over 9.22 million inbound and outbound travelers and more than 1.08 million vehicles passed through Hengqin Port, representing year-on-year increases of 31.7% and 46.5%, respectively. Driven by policies such as “One Visa, Multiple Entries” and the “Qin-Ao Tourism Group,” cross-border commuting, tourism, and educational research demands continued to be released. Data shows that in the first quarter, mainland residents’ outbound and inbound travel through Hengqin Port exceeded 6.16 million, a year-on-year increase of 27.2%; Macao residents’ outbound and inbound travel reached 2.33 million, a 42.8% increase. Among them, the highest single-day passenger flow during the New Year holiday broke through 147k, setting a new record in port history. To cope with the rising cross-border movement, the port has continuously optimized customs clearance services. Relying on the “cooperative inspection, one-time release” mechanism, the clearance time per vehicle has been reduced from about 8 minutes to as fast as 50 seconds. In the first quarter, the proportion of Macao-licensed vehicles passing through reached 66%, with significant improvements in efficiency. Meanwhile, with the implementation of policies such as the “240-hour” visa-free transit, the port’s international attractiveness has been continuously enhanced. In the first quarter, over 150k foreign tourists entered and exited, a year-on-year increase of 81.5%, injecting new momentum into regional cultural and tourism development. (CCTV News)
