Tencent disbands AI Lab
On March 20, Tencent issued an internal notice stating that the AI Lab would be disbanded. The relevant personnel from the former AI Lab have been reassigned to the Large Language Model Department and the Industry-University-Research Cooperation Center. Tencent company Vice President Jiang Jie is no longer the head of the AI Lab; his other positions remain unchanged. He is Vice President of Tencent’s Corporate Development Group (CDG) and Technology Engineering Group (TEG). Tencent AI Lab was established in 2016. It is Tencent’s enterprise-level AI (artificial intelligence) lab, focusing on fundamental research in the AI field, including vision, language, natural processing, and machine learning. AILab has also participated in the R&D of Tencent HunYuan large model. Regarding the adjustments to AILab, Tencent’s relevant officials have not responded. (Finance Magazine)
