The European Union is expected to introduce measures to address aviation fuel shortages

Affected by the Iran conflict, the European aviation industry faces the risk of aviation fuel shortages. On the 20th local time, U.S. media reported that the European Commission plans to introduce a series of measures to optimize the allocation of aviation fuel and seek alternative supplies. The U.S. media reports show that the EU will announce, as early as the 22nd, specific measures to address aviation fuel shortages for release no later than next month. The EU will issue a guideline on how to flexibly apply existing relevant legal provisions to address situations such as airport use and flight cancellations when aviation fuel shortages occur. The guideline will also mention the practice of carrying additional fuel on aircraft to avoid purchasing fuel at higher prices at the destination. The draft also shows that the EU will inventory oil stocks in the region, monitor fuel supply conditions, take measures to increase refinery capacity, and promote the production of biofuels. If the related measures do not prove effective, the EU will propose temporary modifications to relevant regulations. (CCTV News)
