Techub News, citing Jinjishi, reports that Apple has announced that John Ternus will formally take over as Chief Executive Officer on September 1, 2026, succeeding Tim Cook. At that time, Cook will move into the role of Executive Director of the Board. Ternus currently serves as Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, and after officially assuming the position, he will also join Apple’s board of directors. In addition, non-executive Chairman Art Levinson will become the Chief Independent Director on the same day. In his press release, Cook said he will work closely with Ternus throughout the summer to ensure a smooth transition of the company’s leadership. This personnel change is Apple’s first CEO handover since Cook succeeded Steve Jobs in 2011. Statistics show that during Cook’s 15-year tenure, Apple’s market value has grown by approximately 24 times, reaching $4 trillion at Monday’s close.
