How severe can a careless lesson be?

Just now, I finally withdrew all of the $SPA that I staked incorrectly four years ago. At that time, it was worth 50,000 dollars, now it’s worth 5,500, a 99% devaluation.
Four years have passed, and I can still vividly remember that night. Every time I think about it, I feel a thorn in my heart.
Back then, altcoins still had a strong wealth-creating effect, and I had already positioned myself in the hot @SperaxUSD@. A wave of profit of 500k dollars directly. I was happily chatting on the phone with my friend, thinking about how to operate.
At that time, $SPA ’s staking had just been launched. I judged that the hype could last at least 2-3 weeks, so I decided to stake for a week to earn some interest. However, while I was switching calendars back and forth to check the interest rates, I didn’t notice that the damn Dapp quietly changed the default staking duration from the last selected year to the maximum of 4 years!
That is to say, I initially chose a one-week stake, but when I tried to switch to two weeks to see the situation and then back to one week, the UI had already quietly changed the last part from xxxx years to the default 4 years.
I just clicked confirm and realized something was wrong. I immediately went to find someone from the Sperax team, but after several days of back-and-forth, the engineer said the contract was hardcoded, and nothing could be done—you just had to accept it.
Yeah, this thing doesn’t even have a contract, so there’s no hedge. I could only watch the coin price keep falling, and the members of the project team I was connected with gradually left.
Since then, I rarely used this wallet. Every time I look at it, my heart bleeds.
Just now, while cleaning up the wallet, I suddenly realized that four years had passed unnoticed. The 2 million $SPA I deposited before April 9th can now be claimed. Time really flies.
Finally, I can pull out this thorn. It’s been a very painful lesson. From now on, I will cut my hands when staking altcoins.
