Minister Wang Wentao Meets with Apple CEO Tim Cook

On March 20th, Minister of Commerce Wang Wen Tao met with Apple Inc. CEO Tim Cook. The two sides exchanged views on China-U.S. economic and trade relations, Apple’s operations and development in China, and other topics. Wang Wen Tao stated that under the diplomatic strategic guidance of the heads of state of China and the U.S., both sides’ economic and trade teams have conducted six rounds of dialogue and consultation, reaching a series of important consensus. Both sides agree that a healthy, stable, and sustainable China-U.S. economic and trade relationship not only benefits both countries but also has a significant impact on global economic stability and development. Wang Wen Tao pointed out that China is committed to building an open world economy, and China’s economic development is providing stability and certainty to a turbulent world. China continues to promote high-level opening-up, focusing on building a stable, resilient, green, and innovative industrial and supply chain. He hopes Apple will remain confident in its development in China and share China’s development opportunities. Cook stated that China is Apple’s most important manufacturing base and the primary source of its supply chain. Apple continues to deepen innovation cooperation, green development, and industrial chain collaboration in China, which aligns closely with China’s 14th Five-Year Plan.
