Japanese citizens gather to protest the Japanese government’s attempt to revise the constitution.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a routine press conference on the 20th that we also note that Japan’s moves to revise the constitution have increasingly aroused doubts and opposition within Japan, among neighboring Asian countries, and in the international community.
The issue of constitutional revision in Japan concerns the post-war international order and Japan’s future direction, and has always received close attention from the international community and neighboring Asian countries.
However, Japan has yet to deeply and thoroughly reflect on its invasion history, and some forces still attempt to whitewash and glorify the crimes of aggression, pushing Japan to accelerate “re-militarization,” leading to the rise of “new militarism,” which threatens regional peace and stability.
The international community should remain highly vigilant about this.
Guo Jiakun pointed out that preventing the resurrection of militarism is Japan’s obligation and also the firm will of the international community, including China.
We urge Japan to learn from history, abide by international obligations, and adhere to the path of peaceful development.
