Just saw that Western Australia is actually thinking about building its own diesel reserve now. Like, the state government would fund it themselves just to keep fuel flowing for agriculture and mining. Makes sense given what happened with supply issues before, but it's kind of a big move for one region to handle independently. Their Energy Minister mentioned it'll store millions of liters and use existing infrastructure, so at least they're not starting from scratch. The whole thing is supposed to prioritize different areas based on need. Western Australia basically saying they're not waiting around for national solutions. Curious to see how this actually plays out - wonder if other states start doing the same thing or if it stays localized. Either way, seems like energy security is becoming more of a regional issue now.
