On April 20, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaei stated that the root cause of the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz is the military aggression of the United States and Israel, which should bear the consequences of the current situation. Baghaei noted that due to the U.S. repeatedly violating ceasefire agreements and posing threats to Iranian ports and vessels, the current situation is still regarded as a ‘state of war.’ Therefore, unilateral normalization of navigation is impossible; especially since existing security concerns have led insurance companies and cargo owners to abandon passage in the region. Iran has prioritized the development of a new security protocol aimed at ensuring long-term safety and preventing future acts of aggression.
