Abstract generation in progress

On the 19th local time, according to Iranian sources, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy has designated a new shipping lane from waters south of Hormuz Island to waters south of Larak Island. It is reported that this route has been named the “Larak Corridor,” and passage is not allowed without permission from the Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy. Special commentator Su Xiaohui stated that Iran’s establishment of a new route reflects its intention to strengthen control over navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and to engage in strategic bargaining with the United States. After the corridor is established, Iran may also launch a new round of military actions targeting areas outside the relevant region. These could include drone attacks or laying mines, emphasizing shipping risks, and potentially further escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. In the long term, Iran’s designation of a new route, naming it, and tightening control could make the Strait of Hormuz difficult to return to pre-war conditions. In other words, Iran is seeking more initiative regarding navigation rules. When these rules change, the impact will not only affect maritime navigation and regional security but also have long-term implications for the global economy. (CCTV News)
