According to the reporter, Wenchang International Space City is developing commercial space on a full chain, promoting technological innovation and vertical integration of the industrial chain, and accelerating the cultivation of a “3+1+N” industrial system—focusing on core “three chains” enterprises of rockets, satellites, and data space, as well as space tourism, space science education and popular science, space breeding, and other “space+” industries.

According to the relevant departments of Wenchang City during the Nanyang Cultural Festival investment promotion, in 2025, Wenchang adhered to the concept of “driving industry with venues, integrating industry and city,” with the space city park revenue surpassing 20 billion yuan and approved to cultivate a hundred-billion-level industrial cluster; jointly building a collaborative innovation platform with 30 enterprises, establishing 3 industrial funds with a total scale of 5 billion yuan. Hainan’s commercial space launch site has the capability of high-frequency dual-station operations, setting a record of twelve consecutive wins, and the reusable rocket sea recovery system has already started construction. The rocket chain, satellite chain, and data chain continue to grow, with over 700 space-related enterprises settled in, rocket assembly factories fully operational, satellite super factories completed and connected, accelerating toward “100 rockets and 1,000 stars.”

Currently, Wenchang’s commercial space industry is accelerating development, and industrial clusters are forming and growing. Wenchang Mayor Cao Shuyu said in his speech that this year is the first year after Hainan Free Trade Port’s operation of closing the borders, and also a crucial year for Wenchang International Space City to take advantage of the momentum and soar. In this investment promotion, Wenchang launched 5 space industry projects, focusing on rocket chain, satellite chain, and data chain, targeting leading chain enterprises and extending and supplementing the chain, fully ensuring the implementation of three major national strategic projects: “Hundred Rockets and Thousand Stars,” “Dream Boat to Catch the Moon,” and “Chang Jiu Questions the Sky.”

While the space industry is booming, Wenchang is promoting a diversified industrial pattern led by commercial space, supported by traditional industries, and emerging industries rising. By aiming to build an international first-class space science and technology city, it actively cultivates low-altitude economy, digital economy, and other emerging industries, and promotes the transformation and upgrading of traditional characteristic industries such as Wenchang chicken, coconuts, and fisheries.

At the investment promotion site, Wenchang introduced 11 projects including space medical food, deep processing of coconuts, and high-end food processing industrial park, extending the industrial chains of Wenchang chicken, coconuts, fermented vinegar, and cold chain distribution, helping “small specialties” become “large industries”; at the same time, accelerating the transformation of traditional fisheries, launching 9 projects including deep processing of seafood, tropical seawater breeding and seedling cultivation, and leisure fishery tourism.

In the tourism industry, Wenchang features “space+” to create a tourism destination with integrated mountains and seas and distinctive space features, launching 16 investment projects such as Mulan Bo Guang Inn, Tour around Baymen Bay, and Wenchang Space Theme Park.

Alongside industry investment, Wenchang continues to promote urban renewal and comprehensive land management in key areas, launching 4 investment projects including urban renewal of Wenchang city center.
