French National Security Document Agency User Data Leak

According to the message released by the French Ministry of the Interior’s website on the 20th, the French National Security Documents Office, responsible for handling vehicle registration plates, driver’s licenses, ID cards, and passports, detected a security incident on the 15th involving a data breach of its portal website user data. The French Ministry of the Interior stated that the leaked data involving user personal accounts includes identification information such as names, email addresses, birth dates, and in some cases may also include mailing addresses, places of birth, and phone numbers. However, this data breach does not include supplementary information submitted by users during the application process, nor does it allow unauthorized access to the portal website accounts. Currently, the technical department has implemented security enhancement measures to ensure the website’s operation and data security. The Ministry of the Interior did not specify the number of affected users, only stating that users do not need to take any action, and the National Security Documents Office will contact the relevant users. This incident has been reported to the French National Commission on Informatics and Liberty and the National Agency for Information System Security. An investigation will be jointly conducted by the National Security Documents Office and relevant departments to determine the cause and scope of the incident. (Xinhua News Agency)
