On April 21, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong stated that the company is testing AI agents based on former executives to assist employees with decision-making and communication. The ‘Fred’ agent simulates co-founder Fred Ehrsam, primarily used for optimizing documents and strategy, while the ‘Balaji’ agent simulates former CTO Balaji Srinivasan, aimed at providing innovative ideas. These AI agents will be integrated into the company’s internal communication system, and in the future, employees may be able to create additional agent roles themselves. Armstrong mentioned that in the long run, the number of internal AI agents could exceed that of human employees. Additionally, Coinbase has previously launched the Agentic Wallet, which supports AI-driven autonomous trading, and is advancing the x402 protocol and related payment infrastructure, continuing to explore the integration of AI with blockchain applications.
