Have you heard about PEPE? This meme coin actually has an interesting story behind its popularity. So what does PEPE mean? In short, PEPE is a coin inspired by the famous Pepe the Frog meme created by cartoonist Matt Furie and appeared in the book Boy's Club since 2005. But what's unique is that the creator of the PEPE coin itself has not revealed their identity.

This coin was launched in April 2023 and boom, within a month it went viral in the crypto community. It re-entered the top 100 based on market cap. Although there’s no real use case, thousands of investors ended up buying millions of these coins. It has even been listed on several major CEXs, even though supposedly the initial goal was just for entertainment without any financial profit expectations.

What’s even funnier, on their official website they openly state, “this coin has no connection to Matt Furie or the original Pepe the Frog.” So basically, this is purely a meme coin that gained popularity thanks to community buzz, not an endorsement from the original meme creator. Meme coins really have their own way of grabbing people’s attention, huh.
