Recently, when the mainnet gas prices skyrocketed, I got a bit lazy about moving around. Anyway, if it's not something absolutely necessary, I just put it on L2 first to run, and the experience is indeed much smoother. If I really need to go on the mainnet, I try to bundle operations together, instead of submitting one transaction today and another tomorrow, saving on transaction fees and mental stress. There's also a compromise: keep frequently used assets on L2, do small tests on L2 as well, and only put the "long-term inactive" assets on the mainnet, treating it as a safe deposit box.
Lately, hardware wallets have been out of stock, plus there are more phishing links. The higher the gas fee, the more people rush to click the wrong links... I now prefer to go slower, double-check the address after copying, and manually type the domain name into the URL to avoid losing a lot of gas fees over a small mistake. Taking a sip of cold brew before confirming helps a lot.
