Just found out I can actually share my orange with my dog without worrying too much. Honestly thought citrus was a no-go for dogs, but apparently if you do it right, it's totally fine. The key thing is keeping it minimal - like one to three small slices max, and definitely no peel or seeds since those can mess with their digestion or contain harmful stuff. My vet confirmed that can dogs eat oranges safely if you're careful about portions. Turns out oranges have legit vitamins and minerals dogs need anyway - vitamin C for immunity, fiber for digestion, potassium for their organs and bones. Pretty solid if you're looking for a healthier treat option than typical dog biscuits. Obviously most commercial dog food already has all the nutrients they need, so oranges should just be an occasional thing, not a regular snack. The tricky part is not overdoing it because too much citrus can give them stomach upset or diarrhea. Also learned that can dogs eat oranges differently depending on age - puppies need even smaller amounts since their digestive systems are more sensitive. And if your dog has diabetes, skip it entirely because of the sugar content. So yeah, next time I peel an orange I'll definitely share a piece with mine, but keeping it to just a slice or two. Anyone else feed their dog fruit like this? What's your go-to safe treat?
