Just finished reading *Shoe Dog*, and I realized that Nike’s founder, Phil Knight, was ruthless when he started cursing his rival—Kitami of Onitsuka Tiger. In the book, Kitami is described as arrogant, shameless, disloyal, and a piece of trash.
Strangely, though, almost nobody calls Knight a villain or a hypocrite. His autobiography even goes out of its way to talk badly about others—meticulously plotting to make them infamous for generations—yet people still think he’s tough, and genuinely awesome.
So why is that? Why, when they’re both writing dirt about their opponents, is Knight treated like a god while CZ is questioned?
